Abstract :
[en] A tribological study was conducted on a Directed Energy Deposited Metal Matrix Composite made of 316L and tungsten carbides as reinforcements. Pin-on-disc campaign in dry sliding conditions was carried out using counter-bodies with different properties. WC-6Co and Si3N4 were selected as main counter-bodies, complemented by Al2O3 and stainless steel for a more comprehensive study. The characterization of the wear behaviour considered each tribosystem at all levels, allowing to observe the different friction-induced phenomena at the macro-, micro- and nano-scale. Each counter-body stresses a specific hierarchical structure of the material making it possible to identify two main wear mechanisms: tribo-corrosive vs tribo-chemical.
