ORBi Usage License

Upon downloading a document (article, communication, etc.) from ORBi, the University of Liège's Institutional Repository website, the User (i.e. an individual or a corporate body) agrees to respect the terms of the present licence in his/her use of said document.

The University, duly authorized by the authors or their legal representatives, herewith authorizes the User, in accordance with the principles of the "Budapest Open Access Initiative"(BOAI, 2002), to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself.

The present licence does not authorize the use of the document for commercial purposes. The present licence is applicable worldwide and for the legal duration of the copyright protection. It is conferred by the University to the User at not cost. It is non-exclusive and non-transmissible to third parties.

Contrary to paragraphs 1 and 2, when a Work has been previously licensed under a Creative Commons license and when this CC license applies to the Work archived in ORBi, the authorized uses shall be determined by this CC license and not the present agreement.

The User agrees to respect the author's moral rights, in particular the right to the integrity of the work and the right to authorship in any use he/she makes of the document. For example, when reproducing either an excerpt from or the entirety of a document for purposes authorized by the present licence, the User will cite the complete sources as they appear in the Institutional Repository.

Notwithstanding the above, when a Creative Commons license applies to a Work and determines the authorized uses, the user may, to the limited extent of the licensed rights, remix, transform and build upon the work for as long as these adaptations/modifications would not be prejudicial to the author's honour or reputation.

If the document is to be used in a way not explicitly authorized by the present licence, the User shall request the express permission of the authors or their legal representatives beforehand. For example, the User cannot modify or summarize the contents of a document. Any kind of creation derived from existing works necessitates the prior consent of the authors or their legal representatives

The User hereby aknowledges to have read the legal notices of the University of Liège website and to have accepted the terms thereof.

If the University discovers that the User has not complied with his/her obligations as defined in the present licence, it has the right to rescind said licence without prior formal notice and without prejudice to any compensation to which the University might be entitled for reasons of non-compliance.

The present licence is subject to Belgian Law.
