Categorizing ‘Academic First-Year Seminar on Various Topics across Sections’, a new Typology and Teacher Support Tool developed at the University of Liège

Abstract :
[en] As part of a project designed to adapt the logic of First-Year Semi-nars to a Belgian context at the ULiège, we focused our attention on one of the five types of FYS: the Academic Seminar on Various Topics across Sections (AFYSVTS), due to its recognized benefits and growing popularity.
After proposing a composite definition, this communication pre-sents the constitution of a corpus of 750 occurrences of these AFYSVTS, which led to the development of a sub-typology of this type of FYS. Secondly, we will present the use of this corpus as an original tool to support (future) AFYSVTS instructors.
