Abstract :
[en] The stability behavior of thin‐walled cold‐formed beams made of sigma and channel cross‐sections usually used in rack structures and subjected to bending is experimentally investigated in the present paper. The experimental campaign consists of ten 4‐point bending test, accompanying by initial imperfection measurements and coupon tests for the characterization of the actual geometric and mechanical material properties. The aim is to widen the knowledge on such members prone to lateral‐torsional buckling combined with local and/or distortional deformations. Finally, an assessment of the design member resistance according to Eurocodes is performed.
