[en] PART 1 (intro)
"Let's analyse my data !" would say most people and off, they dive head first in writing scripts to process their data. Here I will argue that first the whole dataset must be clearly organized and fully described, before moving on with their processing. The "brain imaging data structure" (aka. BIDS) standard provides a well-defined framework for this curate-then-process approach. In the short and long term, clean data curation will be beneficial for researchers at all levels, allowing easier data QC and completeness assessment, streamlined scripting, intra- and inter-lab data sharing, etc.
PART 2 (demo)
This hands-on session will guide participants through the practical steps required to convert a raw neuroimaging dataset into a BIDS-compliant structure. Based on a real dataset (COFITAGE), using MRI, PET, cognitive assessments, genotyping, and sleep‑parameter data, we will illustrate how to structure files, define metadata and validate datasets with commonly used BIDS tools. The session will also address practical challenges that arise in real‑world multimodal datasets and present concrete strategies to overcome them. Participants will leave with practical experience and resources to start organizing their own datasets according to BIDS standards.
