Abstract :
[en] This paper aims to present some results of the fieldwork in Moma, Malba, Tate
Modern, and the Pompidou Center (2017-2023), focusing on studying their cafés and
restaurants, observing their spatial modifications, and their gastronomic proposals.
The shared and stable characteristics of these spaces led to reflect on the possible
existence of the museum café and restaurant genres, which would contribute to
the emergence of new visiting practices by consolidating sustained links between
museums and their audiences. To this end, the cafés were studied under the media
genres proposed by Steimberg (2013) and the theory of semiotic practices developed
by Fontanille (2008), trying a methodological dialogue between two traditions of
semiotic studies: the Argentine and the French.
