[en] Previous research indicates that being in a satisfying romantic relationship is beneficial for well-being, yet the role of love is scarcely addressed in the literature. The present study investigated the associations between love and well-being in 210 participants involved in a romantic relationship. Results showed that love accounted for approximately 7% of the variance in satisfaction with life, 3% in positive affect, 11% in subjective happiness and 13% in overall subjective well-being. Relationship satisfaction might mediate the associations between love and cognitive evaluations of one’s life and happiness, whereas love itself may directly enhance highly activated positive emotions.
