Abstract :
[en] The solo driving is a popular commuting habit in Wallonia. Associated to an internal combustion engine vehicle, the related CO2 emissions represent most of the total emissions among the set of transportation modes over a given community of workers. This article focuses on the fulltime workers of ULiege at the Sart Tilman campus. The federal survey on mobility and displacements (2024) provide rich information that help to build realistic modal shift scenarios. Supported by CO2 emissions computation specific to our case study, a 55% decrease in total emissions is targeted. A discussion about a painfulness index associated to modal shifts from the solo driving is also proposed. The study results in a reduction of about 50% of the solo driving in terms of mileage in the profits of the train and the E-Bike. Several influence parameters are also emphasized, among which the minimum modal share for a given mode and the rate of electric vehicles in addition to the painfulness index.
