[en] In this chapter, we
look back at the rise of e-commerce and its role in
the digitization of logistics. We will then describe
the main effects of digitalization on the organization of work in the logistics sector. Finally, we
look back at the tensions and struggles surrounding logistics and technological change, before
concluding. On the whole, this chapter conceives
logistics sites as ‘parcel factories’ (Gaborieau,
2017), where struggles for the re-composition of
working classes are taking place, and where new
data-intensive work organizations erase the
social figure of the traditional industrial worker
and contribute to the emergence of new ones.
