Abstract :
[en] This article assesses the fishery households’ adaptive capacity to climate change in the Central Coast of Vietnam through the Sustainable Livelihood Framework that combines broader thematic insights supported with empirical evidence; a sample of 300 respondents was surveyed through structured questionnaires to understand their adaptation capacity in response to changing climate variability. The results indicate that fishers are perceived as badly impacted by climate change, such as floods, drought, sea level, and salinity intrusion in recent years. The findings also reveal that the adaptive capacity in the study area is significantly moderate in terms of adaptation to climate change, and the adaptation strategies have focused on short-term action only limited by access to capital and infrastructure. Therefore, the study proposes broader policy recommendations for effectively mitigating and adapting to climate change in coastal areas in Vietnam. The empirical results indicate the need for climate adaptation policies in resource-dependent areas and propose sustainable strategies for climate-resilient development in Coastal central Vietnam.
