David Jones; In Parenthesis; novel; poetry; CIRTI; sound; rhythm
Abstract :
[en] David Jones was first a visual artist. However, in the 1920s he felt the need to use words to account for his experience in the trenches. In Parenthesis (1937) tells the first six months of his life as a private soldier. While it features the main characteristics of traditional novels, it has an unmistakeable poetic dimension. Through an exercice in close reading the article examines what it consists of.
