[en] Pharmacokinetics, from the Greek pharmakon "drug" and kinetikos " motion», is a branch of pharmacology that study how an organism affects a drug, whereas pharmacodynamics is the study of how the drug affects the organism.
The human body affects a specific drug after its administration through the mechanisms of absorption, distribution and the metabolic changes of the substance in the body. Importantly, routes of excretion of the metabolites of the drug also alters its pharmacokinetics. This course summarizes some special topics in pharmacokinetics including , cardiac , renal and hepatic failure. Pregnacy, cachexia and obesity pharmacokinetics are also introduced.
