Abstract :
[en] This article briefly presents geography and highlights the links between geography and commercial activities. It describes the four fields of investigation of retail geography : urban networks, town planning, commercial location, and the consumer's spatial behavior.
The objective of this study is thus to show the usefulness of commercial geography in professional environments. Geographic "space awareness" can greatly help the business community, for example, in the choice of business locations or during analysis at different scales (from the world or country to the local level). Contacts between geographers and the business community should also increase, because ft is undoubtedly through constant dialogue between these two groups that commercial geography can achieve its full potential. [fr] Cet article discute de la place de la géographie commerciale en géographie; identifie ainsi quatre champs d'investigation de la géographie du commerce de détail : les réseaux urbains, l'aménagement des villes, les localisations commerciales et les comportements spatiaux des consommateurs. Il montre aussi l'utilité des travaux de géographie du commerce dedéatil pour le monde des affaires et plaide ainsi pour un renforcement des liens entre ces deux secteurs.
