Abstract :
[en] Zeotropic mixtures of refrigerants can improve the performance of heat pumps in applications with high temperature differences. However, more experimental campaigns are needed to improve confidence in the approach to customize refrigerant mixtures, especially with hydrocarbons. This study investigates the influence of adjusting the composition of a mixture with Isopentane and Propane on a high temperature heat pump at operating conditions with 30 K temperature difference in the source and sink, at a source inlet temperature of 70 °C and a sink outlet temperature 120 °C. The results show that the COP increased by 13.3 % and the heating capacity by 60 % for the most efficient composition. Differences between the charged composition and the calculated circulating composition were observed, but the reason is unclear.
