Abstract :
[en] Concussion, or mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), is a growing public health concern due to its high incidence and the significant proportion of patients who develop persistent post-concussive symptoms. These symptoms can severely impair daily functioning and quality of life, yet their onset and persistence remain difficult to predict and manage in clinical settings. At the NeuroRecovery Lab (GIGA-concsciousness, ULiège), in close collaboration with the CHU de Liège, we are committed to improving both the clinical management and scientific understanding of concussion and PPCS. By implementing an integrated concussion care pathway, we link patient care with research that includes comprehensive clinical assessment, advanced neuroimaging (functional magnetic resonance imaging - fMRI), and neurophysiological methods (high-density electroencephalography – hd-EEG). Our primary objective is to identify multimodal markers that differentiate patients with mTBI from healthy controls, with the ultimate aim of improving diagnosis, predicting recovery trajectories, and ultimately enhancing clinical care. This presentation will provide an overview of our ongoing projects and highlight how aligning clinical practice with neuroscience research can advance both knowledge and patient care.
