Abstract :
[en] Faculty Research Seminars are short, accessible seminars during which two researchers from different disciplines discuss how the same societally relevant theme is approached in their respective fields.
In this session, Joris Vandendriessche (History) and David Lombard (Literary Studies) will discuss how their research contributes to the field of Health Humanities, an interdisciplinary domain focusing on topics related to mental and physical health and health care.
David Lombard is an FWO postdoctoral fellow whose project focuses on the genre of the schizophrenia memoir. He focuses in particular on how memoirs and graphic memoirs written by people with schizophrenia or by their caregivers reconceptualize schizophrenia and care dynamics.
Joris Vandendriessche is a professor of history, whose research is situated in the fields of medical history, and the history of science and universities. Within his current project, he is conducting a study on the development of international codes of conduct for scientists in the twentieth century.
