Abstract :
[en] The essay analyses Perdute salme (1981-1982), an unpublished novel by Antonio Tabucchi written while he was working as a professor at the University of Genoa (1976-1990), and its successive reworked version, published in 1986 with the title Il filo dell’orizzonte. The analysis is focused on the evolution of the characters in the two versions of the novel, observing their development in the context of the narration and shedding light on the linguistic and stylistic transformations that set the first draft apart from the second. Particular attention is paid to the ways in which this variations help defining the “metaphysical novel” quality that Tabucchi himself saw in this work.
