Abstract :
[en] This publication gathers practical strategies developed by the Trans Europe Halles (TEH) network to support cultural regeneration across Europe. Based on 24 case studies and numerous interviews, it proposes a “working manual” of lessons learned from decades of adaptive reuse and community-led transformation projects.
The strategies are organized into four themes: Matter Matters (radical reuse and circular construction), Out of the Box (experimental and rule-bending urban practices), Time, Time, Time (long-term and multi-temporal approaches), and New Coexistences (rethinking relationships between humans, nature, and space).
Overall, the publication argues that cultural regeneration is not just about renovating buildings, but about reshaping social imaginaries, fostering community empowerment, and advancing socio-ecological transition through creative reuse and experimentation.
