Abstract :
[en] The article explores extant evidence of the early circulation of Symmachus’ Letters, with particular focus on Macrobius’ Saturnalia. Macrobius idealised Symmachus, and considered him nullo veterum minor. The contribution analyses possible cases of the reception of Symmachus’ Letters in the Saturnalia, in order to establish whether and how Macrobius shaped the figures of Symmachus and his friends basing on the orator’s own words.
