[en] This paper investigates the valency-increasing potential of Associated Motion (AM) markers from a cross-linguistic perspective. Applicative use of AM markers was first observed in Tungusic languages. Our previous findings show that this functional extension of AM markers is attested in languages across different linguistic areas. However, the main types of variation remain unknown. This paper investigates this issue in a convenience sample of 30 languages with markers showing both applicative and AM uses.
