Abstract :
[en] The C-GROUT research project, part of the REMIND (Reverse Mineral Industry in Wallonia) portfolio, aims to develop circular grout formulations for offshore wind turbines that can withstand harsh conditions. The project focuses on integrating secondary mineral materials available in Wallonia such as quarry fines, glass calcine, and local mineral waste—into low-, high-, and ultra-high-performance concrete, reducing the use of natural resources and landfill waste.
Using a life cycle assessment (LCA) approach aligned with the EN15804+A2 standard, the project evaluates the environmental impacts from cradle to grave to support eco-design and strategic decision-making. Technical validation is carried out by Euroquartz, with the University of Liège contributing the LCA expertise.
The goal is to create energy- and resource-efficient materials while opening up new business opportunities that promote a regional circular economy. The project underscores the importance of sustainability assessments, smart material sourcing, and waste valorization, paving the way for innovative and competitive low-impact construction solutions.
