[en] The pollution of the environment by textile dyes, particularly water contamination, poses a major threat to ecosystems and human health. Over the years, researchers have made significant progress in water treatment studies, exploring various techniques to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of treatment processes. Among these methods, adsorption has emerged as a promising approach, particularly through the use of biomaterials as eco-friendly and cost-effective alternatives to conventional adsorbents. This study investigates the use of a raw agricultural by-product as a low-cost biosorbent for the removal of an anionic textile dye from wastewater. Batch experiments demonstrated a high removal efficiency of 98% under neutral conditions, with adsorption enhanced by NaCl. Kinetic analysis indicated a pseudo-second-order model, with external diffusion identified as the rate-limiting step. These findings highlight the potential of this biomaterial as an effective and sustainable solution for the removal of textile dyes.
