Abstract :
[en] This chapter focuses on the digital transformation of a specific aspect of Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Operations: that of architectural design. More specifically, it discusses the shift of digital practices in architectural design towards information-centered practices. The chapter proposes to identify this shift from the perspective of the relationship to data of significant emerging digital practices, in particular: the information practices of Building Information Modeling and those of computational design. It looks at emerging information practices by also exploring what the so-called data-driven design practices mean for architecture. The chapter explains “performance-based” and “evidence-based” postures, in order to situate them in the field of possibilities opened up by the information regime. It addresses the issues of informational changeover from the point of view of the evolution of project approaches in architecture.
