[fr] Cette communication retrace l’épiscopat de Théodard, évêque de Tongres-Maastricht attesté en 670. Elle propose une relecture de la trajectoire de ce personnage méconnu du VIIe siècle, en examinant les principales questions relatives à ses origines familiales, aux modalités et au contexte de son avènement à l’épiscopat — notamment dans le cadre du « coup d’État » de Grimoald Ier —, à ses rapports avec la cour mérovingienne, ainsi qu’aux circonstances de sa mort, survenue par assassinat entre 670 et 675. Ces éléments permettent également d’envisager certains rôles qui lui sont attribués, en particulier dans le cadre de la réduction du territoire de l’abbaye de Stavelot-Malmédy sous le règne de Childéric II. [en] This paper retraces the episcopate of Theodard, bishop of Tongeren-Maastricht, attested in 670. It offers a fresh examination of the career of this little-known figure of the seventh century, addressing key questions concerning his family origins, the circumstances and context of his accession to the episcopate—particularly in connection with the “coup d’État” of Grimoald I—his relations with the Merovingian court, and the circumstances of his death, which occurred by assassination between 670 and 675. These elements also make it possible to reconsider certain roles attributed to him, notably in the context of the reduction of the territory of the Abbey of Stavelot-Malmedy during the reign of Childeric II.
