Abstract :
[en] Breast cancer diagnosis is currently based on the combination of mammography and ultrasound and/or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) depending on the characteristics of the patient, on the one hand, and the disease, on the other hand. However, limited access to MRI, its contraindications and its high cost do not make it as a modality of first choice. It is in this context that angiomammography was developed. This innovative technique combines breast X-ray imaging with intravenous administration of an iodinated contrast agent providing morphological and functional information on tumour perfusion. In this article, we present this imaging technique, its indications, advantages, disadvantages and limitations as well as its current and future positioning. [fr] La mise au point des cancers du sein repose à l’heure actuelle sur le couple mammographie et échographie et/ou l’imagerie par résonnance magnétique (IRM) en fonction des caractéristiques de le patiente, d’une part, et de la maladie, d’autre part. L’accès limité à l’IRM, ses contre-indications et son coût élevé n’en font toutefois pas une modalité de première intention. C’est dans ce cadre que l’angiomammographie a vu le jour. Cette technique innovante couple l’imagerie mammaire aux rayons X à l’administration intraveineuse d’un produit de contraste iodé fournissant des informations à la fois morphologiques et fonctionnelles sur la perfusion tumorale. Dans cet article, nous présentons cette technique d’imagerie, ses indications, ses avantages, ses inconvénients et ses limites ainsi que son positionnement actuel et à venir.
