concordia discors; adynaton; ordine cosmico; neoplatonismo
Abstract :
[en] The paper analyses the function of the theme of the concordia discors in Ennodius’ letter 3,
12 to Stephanus. The choice of natural images and paradoxes expresses the author’s view of
the text as a microcosm dominated by the same rules governing the universe, which also
emerges elsewhere in Ennodius’ oeuvre. This idea is consistent with the cultural context
framing Ennodius’ works, deeply influenced by Neoplatonic theories
