[en] This chapter provides an up-to-date review of knowledge of the responses of healthy muscle to exercise and conditioning. The review integrates earlier studies with new information from the emerging field of equine muscle genomics and transcriptomics, thereby providing a holistic view of muscle function as it relates to adaptations to repeated exercise and the connection between muscle function and athletic performance.
