Abstract :
[en] Bitcoin (with uppercase letter “B”) is an innovative payment network and a new store of value. It’s a mathematically elegant computer-based system aimed at building trust in a digital environment. Today, it enables instant payments to anyone, anywhere in the world. It uses cryptography to protect transactions’ content and history. With lowercase letter “b”, bitcoins are portable, durable, divisible, recognizable, fungible, scarce, and hard to counterfeit monetary tokens. For Cathie Wood, CEO of ARK Invest, “It’s the first, global, private, digital, decentralized, rules-based, Monetary System.” Recently, Block Inc. started commercializing Bitkey, a user friendly bitcoin wallet, aimed at facilitating how people receive, store and transfer their satoshis (atomic unit of bitcoin; each bitcoin is divisible into 100,000,000 satoshis). I believe that, in the next few years, this truly innovative piece of hardware & software could play the same role in the bitcoin ecosystem as that played by the iPhone in 2007 in the smart phone space.
