Abstract :
[en] In order to discover patterns of regional variations in the Coffin Texts, CT spell 75 will be used as a case study. By using the phrase structure of the different witnesses, it is possible to recognize patterns beyond random variation. These patterns will be visualised by adapting a biomedical sorting algorithm and producing a dendrogram. It is argued that these patterns are regionally specific, and even allow the differentiation of separate groups within regions, based on the period of coffin creation. Additionally, it is suggested that this method can be used as an additional tool besides standard provenance and dating conventions used in Egyptological research.
