Abstract :
[en] The purpose of this article is to further investigate the linguistic consciousness of the ancient Egyptians as regards figurative language and the specific use of the (D55) classifier as metaphor marker. In other words, the following questions will be addressed here: What are common figurative expressions used to refer to the language and the art of speech? What was “figurative language” for the ancient Egyptians? How did they identify and conceptualize the conceptual process behind it? How did they refer to it in the language and/or script, if they did at all?
