Abstract :
[en] The Casa di Diana (I, iii, 3) is one of Ostia’s most emblematic buildings. After the publication of the Topografia generale in 1953, it was long considered to date from the mid-2nd century AD. Some twenty years ago, new excavations were carried out inside the building, and the date was put back a few decades by the person in charge of the fieldwork, A. Marinucci. This article does not claim to address all the architectural or urbanistic issues surrounding the building, but simply aims to re-read the stratigraphy of this urban plot, showing more specifically that the Casa di Diana was built at the turn of the 2nd and 3rd centuries, in place of a wealthy residence belonging to the municipal aristocracy.
