Abstract :
[en] Children with callous unemotional (CU) traits are characterized by callous (low empathy), uncaring (low prosociality) and remorseless behaviors. CU traits predict greater risk for the most serious and persistent externalized behavior problems during childhood and adolescence and for antisocial behavior and psychopathy in adulthood. Identifying CU traits as soon as possible in childhood allow prevention and intervention programs to be the most effective in positively modifying the developmental trajectory of the child. Although CU traits are widely studied in English-speaking countries, very little is relayed about this topic in the French scientific literature. To address this gap, we conducted a theoretical and clinical review of the CU traits in children, including evaluation and treatment aspects.
