[en] Bovine herpesvirus 1 (BHV-1) is able to inhibit the proliferation of bovine peripheral blood mononuclear cells. Here, we have demonstrated that live BHV-1 and, interestingly, inactivated BHV-1 can induce apoptosis of mitogen-stimulated bovine peripheral blood mononuclear cells in vitro.
