[en] A large number of documents pertaining to the study of Pre- and Early Dynastic Egypt have been found in the Victor Loret Collection of the Egyptological Archives of the Università degli Studi di Milano. These comprise study-notes, unpublished articles, correspondence with Egyptologists and scholars from other fields of study.
The material sheds new light on the scholarly interests of the renowned French Egyptologist on his return from Egypt in 1899 and reveals the impact that the discoveries which he witnessed at the end of the nineteenth century had on his work as an Egyptologist.
This is the first article in a series of six and it considers the most recent documents which were found in the archives. This first document is an unpublished, unfinished article entitled Le roi Nar-mer in which Loret examines the transliteration the name of King Narmer, his Palette (Cairo cg 14716) and relative position within the Thinite Dynasties.
