Abstract :
[en] Systematic investigations are briefly summarized on microorganisms exhibiting antibiotic effects against the Loeffler bacillus in the pharyngeal secretions of persons afflicted with diphtheria. Several organisms possessing this property and belonging to the genus Bacillus have been isolated. Other types have been isolated from air, water and soil. All these bacilli are Gram-positive and exhibit the characters of the subtilis-mesentericus group. They secrete several antibiotic substances, which are very diffusible and remarkably thermostable.
