Abstract :
[en] Cardio-oncology is a new interdisciplinary specialty that has emerged over the past ten years. With the development of increasingly potent cancer therapies which improve cancer survival, but at the cost of cardiovascular toxicity, the demand for specialized cardio-oncology services has emerged. Also, cardiovascular diseases are more common and more serious in cancer patients than in the general population. Cardio-oncology focuses on the prevention, detection, monitoring, and treatment of cardiovascular diseases in cancer patients, mostly those occurring as a side effect of chemo- and radiotherapy.
