Awareness and consideration of ecosystem services in quarries restoration in Western Europe

Quarries are often seen as important refuges for a wide diversity of rare and threatened species. Their preservation and management goes through a co-construction with the quarrying community. In order to understand the awareness and consideration of the quarry sector about ecosystem services and biodiversity, face-to-face interviews were conducted with a diversity of quarries stakeholders. Biodiversity knowledge and ecosystem services perception by the extractive sector is expected to support reconciliation between industrial and biodiversity stakes.
