Abstract :
[en] The cognitive and neuropsychological approach to memory suggests that memory is composed of independent but interacting systems. In addition, it also indicates that episodic memory and autobiographical memory are based on various encoding and retrieval processes and on a distributed cerebral network involving interactions between prefrontal and posterior regions. It also appears that encoding and retrieval are directly related to the emotional arousal that is elicited by an experience. Finally, the working self may control the elaboration of retrieval cues in order to construct memories relevant to its current goals.
