Abstract :
[en] The objective of the consultancy was to develop capacity of Armstatehydromet and Ministry of Agriculture in predicting and preventing winter wheat crop diseases. The consultant was invited to deliver a four day training which was jointly organized by the ARMSTATEHYDROMET (hereinafter: Hydromet), MoA and FAO from 3 to 6 April 2012 under the “EC/FAO Programme on Information Systems to Improve Food Security Decision-Making in the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) East Area”. The Programme is financed by the European Commission and implemented by FAO. The mission was carried out under the Agro-meteorological Component of the Programme in Armenia. The objective of the Programme in Armenia is to support government’s priorities to reduce food insecurity and poverty by improving the quality and sharing of information across institutions and promoting evidence-based analyses and assessments. The assignment contributed to improve long term agro-meteorological forecasting and the dissemination of information to Marz Support Centres. This is the fifth mission under this component1. This mission was devoted to the introduction of a modelling system for the forecasting and prevention of winter wheat diseases by an expert in agrometeorology and crop yield forecasting. The mission was carried out by Moussa El Jarroudi, University of Liege, Belgium (ULg).
