Abstract :
[en] The archaeological pieces of evidence confirmed that metallurgical activities began in the region since the ninth millennium B.C. Arsenical copper was the first alloy made by artisans of the Ancient Near East. The accidental copper-tin alloy with various tin content had appeared and been used besides arsenic copper since the early third millennium. Archaeological evidence from different sites of the Syrian Jezireh shows that arsenic copper and bronze (as accidental and deliberate alloys) are the most common metals used in objects manufactured during the third millennium B.C
The equipment pertinent to metallurgy indicates that the artisans of Jezireh had gradually developed their techniques over several centuries.
