Abstract :
[fr] Cet article interroge le sort réservé à l’imaginaire dans l’univers carcéral. Une étude minutieuse de ce phénomène fournit des informations sur la psychologie intime de l’homme incarcéré (ses rapports au rêve, au corps, à l’altérité, à l’espace et au temps). Ponctuée par une situation clinique, l’étude identifie ce que Sami-Ali appelle le banal (monde hyper-réel duquel les possibilités d’émancipation par l’imaginaire sont réduites, voire inexistantes) comme étant la dynamique de fond du vécu carcéral. L’individu y devient un « être unique en général », rouage anonyme d’une organisation qui le dépasse.
[en] This paper examines the fate of the imaginary in the carceral world. A careful study of this phenomenon offers information on the intimate psychology of the incarcerated person : their relationship to dreams, to the body, to otherness, to space, and to time. Punctuated by clinical vignettes, the article identifies what Sami-Ali calls the banal—a hyper-real world where the possibility of emancipation by the imaginary is reduced or non-existent—as the basic dynamic of the carceral experience. The individual becomes a “unique being in general,” an anonymous cog in an organization that goes beyond it.
