[en] 29,510 records from 10,659 Simmental beef cattle provided by the Associação Brasileira dos Criadores das Raças Simental e Simbrasil (ABCRSS) were used to compare estimates of genetic parameters for weights at 100, 205, 365, 450, 550 and 730 days old, using multi-trait models (MTM) and random regression models (RRM). The genetic parameters were estimated by restrict maximum likelihood (REML). Direct heritabilities of MTM were slightly lower than RRM and varied, respectively, from 0.04 to 0.42 and 0.16 to 0.45. Given the results, and that the pre-adjustment to standard ages is not required by RRM, RRM can be considered as alternative for genetic evaluation of Simmental beef cattle in Brazil.
