PRELIMINARY ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF AN EXPERIMENTAL FACILITY FOR THE PSEUDODYNAMIC EARTHQUAKE TEST OF A REAL SCALE STEEL MOMENT RESISTING FRAME WITH PARTIAL STRENGTH JOINT
[en] Last version of Eurocode 8 has introduced the possibility to employ partial strength joints in Moment Resisting Frames in seismic zone, provided that the connections are demonstrated to perform adequately under cyclic loadings. In this paper the preliminary analysis and the design of a Pseudodynamic (PsD) testing facility for the experimental study of a Real Scale two storeys-two bays steel MRF, with classical and innovative joint details, are showed. The preliminary Pushover and Incremental Dynamic Analyses carried out in Seismostruct software to estimate the forces and displacements expected at each storey for the selected ground motions have also been reported. The analysis are extended to all the different frame layouts that the research group intend to test and the main results obtained are presented.
