[en] The session is devoted to the launch of an online knowledge database specific to GP / FM. This work is the result of a two years’ work of a cooperative project between participants from 12 countries and 8 languages. People are now used to the International classification of Primary Care (ICPC-2) which addresses the clinical issues in GP/FM , ie Symptoms, Process and Diagnosis. We have work on non-clinical issues i.e. all themes addressed by GPs during congresses which concern organizational, ethical, structure, teaching or patient related issues not encompassed by ICPC-2. The letter Q was used to name Q-Codes because this letter wasn’t yet used in ICPC-2. Q-codes are a classification of non-clinical items in General Practice / Family Medicine (GP/FM). Q-codes are a classification of non-clinical items in General Practice / Family Medicine (GP/FM). After a demonstration of the Q-Codes terminology and of the online database, we are proud to present to you a new GP/FM terminology in 6 languages freely available online. Creation of the Q-Codes online knowledge base
The list of themes, called Q-Codes has been elaborated in a bottom-up approach, by retrieving, in a qualitative analysis study, the themes most frequently addressed by GPs when they meet in congresses. A taxonomy has been build. A multilingual terminological record has been developed for each of the 182 items identified. This work is freely available online on (free access after inscription) and is supported by the Rouen (France) biomedical informatics department of the University of Rouen (France). All the data are available in the Web Ontology language (OWL-2), an ontology-ready format fit for future use in the semantic web. The product, user guide and e-learning are available on The Q-codes base is aimed at several uses: • Online repository of knowledge specific to GP/FM in several languages • Online PubMed linked bibliographic system easy to use for training in GP/FM • Resource for online e-learning • Resource for analysis of content of congresses in GP/FM in joint usage with ICPC-2 and indexation of gray literature • Research area : o automatic or semi-automatic congresses indexation system o linking GP/FM to the web of data and the linked data initiative
