Abstract :
[en] Many scientists, athletes, sports bodies, and governments applaud the increasing integration of science and technology into sports. However, the scientization of sports raises ethical, legal, and social issues (ELSI), e.g. about the changing relationship between medical support and human enhancement, and the implications of scientific talent screening in sports for sports participation. A public debate is needed that identifies the ELSI in sports innovation and urges technology innovators, regulators, and decision makers to take into account such issues before sports innovations are irrevocably locked into sports and society.
