[en] Pre-stress may have a consderable effect on the behaviour of thin walled structures. The general case is non linear. However, there is a class of situations where the study remains linear, as for example, a plate with a membranar pre-stress. The present paper focuses on the basic hypotheses of such a linearized analysis an on its exact formulation.
