Abstract :
[en] In sanskrit, aruna- means "red, pink". In Avestan, occidental scholars translate auruna by "wild". Nothing explains this paradox between two words whose etymological equivalence is obvious. A precise reading of the Rig-Vedic stanzas shows that the feminine form of this adjective always qualifies the Dawn. This systematic use modified the meaning of the adjective. Beyond its chromatic value, it indicates in the Rigvedic poetries the intermediate time linking day and night.
