[fr] Le traitement pharmacologique du diabète de type
2 s’est considérablement complexifié au cours des dernières
années et les objectifs se sont diversifiés et, globalement, sont
devenus plus stricts. La cible glycémique (hémoglobine glyquée ou HbA1c
) et les médicaments à utiliser pour l’atteindre
doivent être choisis en fonction des caractéristiques individuelles du patient et, si possible, en concertation avec lui.
Les principaux critères à prendre en compte sont l’efficacité
anti-hyperglycémiante, le risque hypoglycémique, l’effet sur
le poids corporel, les manifestations indésirables et les coûts.
Nous résumons ici la stratégie proposée dans le «position statement» publié en 2012, conjointement par l’American Diabetes Association (ADA) et l’European Association for the
Study of Diabetes (EASD), en insistant plus particulièrement
sur les aspects pratiques à l’intention du clinicien

taken into account are the glucose-lowering efficacy, the risk

and the costs. We summarize here the strategy proposed in the
joint «position statement» published in 2012 by the American
Diabetes Association (ADA) and the European Association for
the Study of Diabetes (EASD). We will more particularly focus
