[en] Superficial skin surface stripping (SSSS) enables the study of the outermost cell layers of the stratum corneum. In this article we review the diagnostic value and the research possibilities offered by SSSS. This technique is non invasive and provides information useful in the differential diagnosis of erythematosquamous and eczematous lesions and pigmented neoplasms. For research purposes SSSS can also be used as substratum for scanning electron microscopic assessments and biochemical analysis.
