Abstract :
[en] Celiac disease is more prevalent in type 1 diabetic patients than in the general population. The exact reason for this association remains unknown. Two hypotheses are taken into consideration: either a common genetic background or an immune response against Langerhans islets triggered by celiac disease. This review presents recent data about this association and its consequences in clinical practice.
